HECAF360 is seeking qualified and committed Nepali professionals to support a project focused on strengthening Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Healthcare Waste Management (HCWM), and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) services in healthcare facilities across Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
The project aims to enable healthcare facilities to continuously improve and adapt their systems to ensure effective, sustainable, and inclusive WASH and HCWM outcomes. The overall objective is to improve public health and well-being, with particular emphasis on enhancing environmental health standards within healthcare settings in the targeted provinces.
Terms of Reference (ToR) for Field Coordinator – WASHFIT

Location: Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces

Duration: 10 months, with an initial probation period of 3 months

Level of Effort: Full-time field-based position with frequent travel within the assigned province. The position will be based on Janakpur / Chandranigahapur for Madhesh, Bhairahawa for Lumbini and Surkhet/ Dhangadi for Sudurpaschim Provinces.
1. Objective of the Position
The Field Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of WASHFIT-related activities at the community and health facility levels. The role includes mobilizing community actors, facilitating training, monitoring field interventions, ensuring coordination with stakeholders, and supporting documentation and reporting.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Community and Facility Mobilization
• Organize and coordinate community and health facility-based events to promote WASH and SBC activities.
• Promote inclusive community engagement and support for Social Behavior Change (SBC) interventions.
B. Training and Capacity Building
• Facilitate logistics and provide on-ground support for trainings for stakeholders on Hospital Waste Management.
• Collect training-related documentation, including attendance, feedback, results, and photographs.
• Support the rollout and orientation of SBC materials and ensure proper documentation of their use.
C. Coordination and Liaison
• Coordinate with health facilities and local authorities to ensure smooth implementation of WASHFIT activities.
• Ensure effective logistical and operational coordination for all field-level activities.
• Collaborate with local stakeholders to track Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) indicators and promote inclusive participation.
• Closely coordinate and work with the counterparts from partner organizations for designing and execution of the activities.
D. Monitoring, Documentation and Reporting
• Monitor field-level implementation and community engagement, and identify challenges and opportunities.
• Collect and organize field data, photographs, and relevant documentation for reports and visibility materials.
• Submit timely weekly updates and detailed monthly field reports to the Project Coordinator.
3. Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• At least 5 years of experience working in community mobilization, WASH, or public health programs. Solid Waste Management in Hospital will be an asset.
• Experience in organizing trainings and community-level events.
• Proven experience working in coordination with government health facilities and local bodies.
4. Skills and Competencies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in local language(s) of the assigned province is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Strong reporting, documentation, and basic data analysis skills.
• Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and participatory approaches.
5. Workstation and Travel Requirements
• Based in one of the target provinces (Madhesh, Lumbini, Sudurpaschim), with frequent field visits to rural and remote areas.
• Must be willing to travel extensively within the assigned province.
6. Other Duties
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Coordinator relevant to the WASHFIT implementation and community engagement.
